A busy un-busy weekend

You know those weekends where you're just going and going and going and then at the end of it you realize how little actually got done? We had one of those this weekend. Did some shopping, I got to a couple of my around the house sewing projects...other than that I can't really imagine what we accomplished or did. C'est la vie, I guess.

Munchkin learned: Hmm, let's see...well, she learned not to bite her own arm because darn that smarts! She's picking up more of her cards, like "crocodile" and "bumpy" on recognition and she's trying to say more.

Mom learned: That I'd like to kick the hell out of the shins belonging to the guy who put this awful plaster treatment on our walls. I learned that it can take almost 40 freaking minutes to get 2 screws in a windowsill b/c of the darn metal underneath. YAY...I learned there is another fabric store closer to me and they had a great sale on today. And I learned that no matter what I'm looking for in Lowe's...no matter if I was just in there yesterday...I will not be able to find it on my own. It's my curse. Oh, and that MunchkinDad is not happy about an anticipating trip unless he's stressing about packing at least a week in advance.

Munchkin has a weight check this week; I don't know if I'm just subconsciously doing it, but she feels heavier to me. The whole family is looking forward to the beach next week...bad weather STAY AWAY! It's MunchkinDad's first vacation in a long while.

Back on schedule tomorrow

We sure will miss little Miss P and her mommy in the days and months to come! But it will be nice to be back on schedule.

Mom learned: Not a good idea to let Munchkin go without a nap so late in the day...she becomes an aggressive little biter.

Munchkin learned: Waiting until 5pm to nap, probably not a good idea. Causes one to fall asleep in the midst of one's snack.

She ate well today!

Those of you who follow our family know we've had some issues with getting the Munchkin to eat regularly and to gain weight. I swear she's healthy and fine, the peds say different. Whatever.

Today Mom learned: Chicken and Gnocci soup at Olive Garden is pretty bland.

Today Munchkin learned: Chicken and Gnocci soup at Olive Garden rocks! Eat lots!

Just goes to show you, you just never know where it's coming from and out of nowhere all the stuff you stress over just falls into place sometimes. She even didn't fight the highchair and didn't eat her crayons. It was a banner lunch.

Giving back

Mom learned: I am reminded today of how great it feels to be able to repay kindnesses given to you. Being part of the large family that is the military, other families know what it's like to move from place to place and to not only dread the upheaval but to feel badly when it touches your little ones. Though she thinks it a small thing, many thanks and my heart go out to my neighbor for taking my mom and Munchkin to her house for a bath and new jammies while I dealt with some uncaring, un-careful, petulant movers. Today, as she begins her pack out to move her family one last time, I got to repay the favor by watching her little girl, who is the same age as Munchkin. It's always nice when you get to be a part of the coming and going around.


Munchkin learned: She has these flashcard puzzles and today she learned all but 2 of the animal part of the pairs. MunchkinDad was impressed when she easily picked out each one I called out to her. What a little genius. She also learned how crappy it feels to refuse a nap until 5pm.



***Best of luck to the L family as they finish their packout and head off on the last move. I feel like I wasted the good fortune of having y'all next door, and you will be missed.

Today's schedule

Today Mom learned: This schedule is good...morning workout, then the pool with munchkin, then she hits a good long nap and I can get things done. Also learned that Zumba will kick my out-of-shape butt.




Today Munchkin learned: "Baby Hulk" will always make Mom not be mad at me, she can't not smile. Use this often.

Mom's note..."Baby Hulk" is where Munchkin will flex her muscles and really exert herself, to the point her arms are shaking and her neck muscles are bulging out. She usually does this when she is frustrated over something or not getting her way, but she will do it on command and it never gets old or stops making everyone in the room laugh til their sides hurt!

The point here

I intend to use this blog to keep family and friends updated on our lives without sending out dozens of emails, pictures, etc. So, here we are, Munchkin and Mom each day. I intend not to use names or identifying info whenever possible, so if you comment please don't include any of that stuff. For now, I err on the side of caution with internet security. I may relax that later on but not yet.

I started this with the idea of you learn something new every day, so this is what Munchkin and Mom (and MunchkinDad when he's available for the fun!) learn each day. The first example is from a month or so ago...
